You know it's a Texas Trans Am story when it starts with:
"Hey man, you ain't goin' to believe this $#!+..."
Seriously we feel like the "Big Firebird Driver" in the sky just shifted this thing into second gear about 2 months ago and the tires are still laying down black marks on the road. Sounds something like this:
All this happened in the past couple of months: We got a parts hauler with a back seat, Chris returned safely from Iraq, we launched a new website to promote the mufflers: TexasTAMufflers.com, set up a secure ordering shopping cart system, published new photos of the mufflers and new sounds. Became a wholesale partner with Phoenix Graphix (More on this relationship coming later), got TexasTAMuffler.com bumper stickers made, got prototype 3-inch inlet, 3-inch outlet mufflers, and 3-inch inlet dual 2.5-inch outlet mufflers,
Got more TexasTransAms.com bumper stickers, embroidered shop shirts, ball caps, ladies spaghetti strap tank tops (and pictures), and finally T-SHIRTS! All in time to exhibit a booth at the Pontiac Southern Nationals. Sponsored and launched the PontiacChick.com site, with great pictures, stories and accessories for our female Pontiac enthusiasts. Made a new mold for the '74-'75 front splash pan, got '77-'81 shaker scoop seal gaskets cleaned up the shop AND found the picnic table.
Lord take me now, if it gets any better we wouldn't know what to do, but to top it all off today at Chicken Express we ordered the 4 piece Snack Pack, and got 5 PIECES OF CHICKEN. Life is GOOD!
1a. Internet Seller Beware - A mechanic friend of ours knows a guy that advertised a car for sale on the Internet. He received e-mail from a guy claiming to be an auto broker from West Africa wanting to buy the car. He was sent a cashiers check for more than the selling price of the car. The check was deposited in the seller's bank and was cleared. The buyer then sent his local agent to pick up the car and a cashiers check for the difference. Later his bank notified the seller that the original cashiers check from the buyer was counterfeit. Our seller lost his car and the money for the difference in the selling price and the buyers original check.
Last week David got the following e-mails from separate accounts:

1b. This past month we've been working on a new website to promote the Texas T/A Mufflers (That's the webmaster's excuse for not doing an April newsletter.)
The site features two new mufflers, one with a single 3-inch inlet and single 3-inch outlet, the other with a single 3-inch inlet with dual 2 1/5-inch outlets. The 3-inch in 3 inch out sounds great on Wade's Cummings turbo diesel. The dual outlet muffler is great to make a single cat-back system look like dual exhaust system at the tail pipes.
The site also features new pictures of all the mufflers, a video of a street drive by and exciting new full throttle launch sounds. (CAUTION! The following sounds have been known to cause excitability in middle-aged men, and some women too.)
1c. Dallas Area Pontiac's Pontiac Southern Nationals
The weather could not have been better! Saturday Chris A., David's son David III and Gary H. operated a booth at the car show displaying the new fiberglass parts and low-profile hi-performance TexasTAMufflers, center caps, shaker seals, and Texas Trans Am Service T-Shirts. David II had a prior commitment to be out of town and could not attend, much to the disappointment of many guests from out of state looking for answers and solutions for their Second Gen. Firebird. We did get a chance to met hundreds of our friends and customers face to face. Several of his customers exhibited their cars at the show. The next day at the drag strip we had a different group of customers and fans visit the booth. It's really great to share the Pontiac enthusiasm with such a great group of folks. Later I told David that for many of our booth visitors, Texas Trans Am Service having a booth at PSN without him was like a Smokey and the Bandit Movie without Burt Reynolds, ( NO! ) like River Dance without Michael Flatley ( NOOOOOOOOOO! )
Oh yeah, you want pictures of the show. Here is something a little different:
2. "Membership has its' privileges"
Welcome back old friends and to new members "merrick_cheri" and "trans_am78455" our 255th and 256th members on the same day out of 19 new members in May.
We had no idea how large the distribution of this newsletter would become when we started it one year ago in April 2002. As the Newsletter Editor and Webmaster, I look for trends in email, membership profiles and keyword searches to tune the website to our visitors wants and needs. I commented several months ago to David that a noticeable number of subscribers were Female. As of publication date, of those with Yahoo profiles, 16 subscribers are Women, 37 are Men. David said "If the Trans/Am restoration thing doesn't pan out we can always start a dating service for people interested in second generation Firebirds." The next best thing.. Chat.
Newsletter subscribers get first notice on rare parts and new Project Cars.
- 1979 Black Trans Am with a '78 nose. 403 Automatic.
It has some rust spots in floor, decent quarter panels.
- 1979 Blue Trans Am with Fisher T-Tops - No Engine
- COMMING SOON!
1978 Solar Gold Trans Am (Sorry it's not a Y-88) 400 Automatic - Runs and Drives, Hurst Hatch Tops, Power windows & Door locks, some rust spots in floor, new exhaust system, straight rear quarters, dent in front passenger fender.
- 1977 Firebird black with yellow flames and snorkel.
It has a sunroof and good seats. Good body, needs engine. This car is desperately looking for a "B" movie to star in. "Hooper 2003"? The snorkel and paint job alone is worth an extra 100 HP, even without an engine.
- ADOPTED - 1974 Buccaneer Red T/A 455. This survivor RUNS and DRIVES. Straight body, very little rust. Needs complete interior. Recently rebuilt Pontiac 455 features nasty cam, Holly 850 Carburetor, aluminum Edelbrock performer intake, 6x heads, aluminum high rise valve covers, honeycomb wheels.
1981 Firebird V6 parts car. Perfect doors.
If you are interested in one of these great project cars, call David at 817-563-2121

They are up to 1 1/2 inches lower in profile than other popular performance mufflers.
I finally got done with the exhaust on my 78 T/A. I love the way the mufflers
Sound. I stayed with the stock size exhaust pipes, it still sounds good.
I changed my mind about selling the car now. I turned down $7,500 for it from
a friend. He found nice 78 T/A that needs some work. He asked about were I got my mufflers from so I gave him your web page.

6. Top 100 Muscle Car Sites
We are just crushed to have dropped down to #3. Top100MuscleCarSites.com has undergone some reconstruction and looks great. This site ranks a list of over 780 American Muscle Car Web pages. If you haven't seen it, check it out.
Ok listen up, David promised Paul from Ram Air Restoration (The manufacturer of the Ram Air Exhaust Manifolds we like to use instead of tube headers from street restorations) that while "Engine Power" knocked us out of second place a few months ago, that soon we would be #2 again. Please vote often! Vote like it's Florida. As of this writing we are 1,135 votes behind. That's NOTHING! Our Readers ROCK!!!
David gets HUNDREDS of e-mails each month (That's just the price of being an international celebrity) and tries his best to respond in a timely manner, but sometimes it takes a few days to research the answer and find time to respond. Remember if all else fails and it's an emergency give us a call at 817-563-2121. Due to the proliferation of computer virus we don't open e-mail attachments, unless we are expecting the attached file, and know it's purpose. If you must send an attachment, please call us first so we can make room on the server. The best way to share images with us is to FTP the file to your personal web space and include the URL in the e-mail message. Like this:

Tee Shirts are HERE!
Shop Shirts are available with our exclusive firebird logo embroidery above the left shirt pocket.
We had a great response from our Texas Trans Am Service T-Shirts, Shop Shirts and Baseball Caps available for sale at our booth at the Pontiac Southern Nationals, and soon on the web at our secure online order site. But nothing could have prepared us for the popularity of the embroidered PontiacChick.com tank tops with the firebird logo.
We got pictures of our new friends in their PontiacChick.com shirts with their own Pontiac Show car. Vote for your favorite lady and her car. The top vote getter gets PontiacChick.com accessories.
TexasTransAms.com bumper sticker version 1.3 is on back-order and will be available for $2.00 each, plus shipping and handling. They will be available with full white background or a clear background for windows.
David recently received a call from San Antonio, TX. (264 miles away) The caller saw the TexasTransAms.com bumper sticker on a car and checked out the web site.

8. At the shop recently...
A couple of weeks ago we set a shipping record of 16 packages in one week. 3 went to separate customers Canada. The exhaust tips arrived in Sweden, our customer e-mailed us that he will put pictures on his web site. A proportioning valve was shipped to Puerto Rico. '74 splash pans, spoilers and '77 spoilers are on back order. The Red and the Gold center caps are almost gone. We're going through a case of exhaust splitter tips in a week.
We sent a nice pair of rear frame rails to Iowa. Even we would like to see pictures of this in process.
'67 Camaro - The back half is in place and ready for tail light panel installation, then spot wilding. The donor car parts included rear frame rails, trunk pan, tail light panel support, rear seat structure, rear floor pans, inner wheel wells. The owner of the car was here when we re-fitted the rear section into the body. His family owns collision shops and others said the job could not be done.
Dano '79 T/A Special Edition TA - We are in the process of detailing the engine prior to re-installation. Once the engine is in place there will be enough weight in the front to compress the coil springs and put the suspension pieces into place.
Gary G's '78 Y88 Gold Special Edition - This is a 19,000-mile original car. We pulled the motor for re-seal and detail. Later it will get a heater core and clock repair.
Larry S's '79 T/A - New windshield is installed and decals are here. Red and orange hood bird on a starlight black body. We have seen this color combination at the Trans Am Nationals.
Larry A's '71 T/A - Roll cage is in process. Once complete we will finish the bodywork.
Jerry J's '79 Black T/A - The hood has been re-painted & interior stripped for carpet and dash cover.
'79 red T/A - We replaced the third generation seats (which sat too high and were mounted facing slightly outward) with the correct seats and new upholstery.
If you look closely in this picture you can see the new standard vinyl seat covers.
Steve's Blue '70 T/A - Finished and GONE so quickly we didn't get pictures. Clock, Tachometer and speedometer were rebuilt and the front sheet metal re-aligned very nicely.
Todd's blue '78 T/A - The new front floor pan has been welded in place and is ready for primer.
Here's hoping all your junk e-mail comes true.
